Today I gonna talk about how I remade that Patek Philippe watch, you know, the Gondolo 4962/200R-001. I saw it on their official website, and thought, “Hey, I can do that!”

First, I got into my workshop. Looked through my stuff for what I needed, like good metal and those tiny little parts that make a watch tick. I started sketching out the design on paper. Drawing is not my thing, really, but I needed a blueprint.

Then, I fired up my computer. Opened a program to make a 3D model. It was like playing with digital clay, shaping the watch case, the dial, and all those little details. I wanted it to look just like the real deal, so I spent hours tweaking things, making sure everything was perfect.

  • Finding the Right Pictures: I spent a good chunk of time just browsing pictures of the watch. Got to know every curve and corner of it.
  • Working with Metal: This was the hard part. Shaping metal is tough work. I messed up a few times, got some cuts, but kept going.
  • Painting and Polishing: Once I had the parts, I had to paint and polish them. This is where the watch really started to shine. It’s kind of satisfying, you know?

After making the model, I used a 3D printer to make some parts. It is amazing what technology can do. It created the pieces layer by layer. It wasn’t perfect, but it gave me a good starting point.

Assembling the watch was like putting together a puzzle, a really tiny, complicated puzzle. I used tweezers and a magnifying glass to put all the pieces together. One wrong move and I could mess up the whole thing. It was nerve-wracking, but also kind of exciting.

Once it was all together, I tested it. Checked the time, wound it up, and listened to it tick. It felt like a big deal. After all that work, seeing it function was a relief.

I also made a photo album. Took pictures of the watch from different angles. It was cool to see my creation in photos, kind of like how they do in magazines.

In the end, it wasn’t just about making a watch. It was about the journey, the trial and error, and finally holding something I made in my hands. It’s not a Patek Philippe, but it’s my version of it, and I’m pretty proud of that.

Making it Shine

Polishing the watch was a whole other story. I wanted it to gleam, like it was brand new. I used different polishing cloths and compounds. It took time, but the result was worth it. I got a bit lost in the process, just me and the watch, making it look its best.

You know, it’s one thing to build something, but another to make it look like a million bucks. It was a lot of work, but hey, I got a shiny new watch out of it. And the best part? I made it with my own two hands. That’s something special, right?
