Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with watches again. This time, I got my hands on this Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Date, well, not the real deal, but a pretty decent imitation. I thought I’d share my experience with y’all, from start to finish, in case any of you are into this kind of stuff.
First off, I started by scouring the internet for where to buy a decent fake Jaeger-LeCoultre, cuz the real ones are like, way out of my budget. We’re talking thousands of dollars! I stumbled upon some online marketplaces where these things were going for much cheaper, like a couple of bucks. Bargain, right?
So, I ordered one. When it arrived, the package was kinda beat up, but the watch inside was wrapped up pretty good in bubble wrap. I unwrapped it, and man, it looked pretty darn close to the pictures I saw online. Shiny steel case, nice and thin, just like the real Master Ultra Thin Date. It even had that date window at the 6 o’clock position, just where it’s supposed to be. Cool, cool.
Next, I started playing around with it. I wound it up, and the hands started moving. So far, so good. It felt kinda nice on my wrist, not too heavy. Then I tried setting the time. It was pretty straightforward, just like any other regular watch. But then, I noticed something off. This watch also has those other buttons to set the date and moon phase, I tried to press the buttons on the side but they wouldn’t budge. They’re supposed to change the date and that moon phase thing, but no dice. They just wouldn’t work. I pushed and pushed, but nothing. Bummer.

I spent a good amount of time trying to figure it out, but nope, those buttons were definitely busted. I guess that’s what you get for a couple of bucks, huh? It’s a bit of a letdown, but hey, the watch still tells the time, and it looks pretty slick. I’ve been wearing it for a few days now, and honestly, it’s not bad for a knock-off. It’s super thin, just 7.8 mm thick, and the diameter is 39 mm, which is a good size for my wrist. It’s got that automatic movement, which is kinda neat, you can see it through the back of the watch. Even though it’s not a real Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 899, it’s still pretty cool to watch it do its thing.
The Verdict
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure with this imitation Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Date. It’s not perfect, but it’s a fun little piece to have. Would I recommend it? Well, if you’re looking for something that looks the part and you’re not too fussed about all the functions working perfectly, then sure, go for it. Just don’t expect it to be like the real deal, which can cost like 16,000 bucks! I mean, I saw some real ones selling for over 8,000 and even 5 bucks. Crazy, right? This fake one is way cheaper. If you’re thinking of getting one, make sure to check out different sellers, because the prices can vary. And who knows, maybe you’ll have better luck with those buttons than I did!
