Hey folks, it’s your girl back again, and today, I’m diving into something a little different. So I got it in my head to try and recreate that Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG – you know, the “Classic Style” one.
First off, I spent hours scouring the internet, looking at pictures, trying to get a feel for this bag. It’s called a “box bag” for a reason, real structured and all. And that YSL logo? Had to get that just right. It’s the whole point, ain’t it?
Then came the fun part – picking out materials. I hit up every fabric and craft store within a 50-mile radius, I swear. I was on the hunt for the perfect sturdy material that could hold that boxy shape. Found some decent black fabric and some stiff interfacing to give it that solid feel.
The hard part
- Cutting the pieces: Now this was a doozy. Getting those angles and measurements precise was key. I must’ve measured ten times before I made a single cut with my scissors. It was like geometry class all over again, and let me tell you, I wasn’t exactly top of the class back in the day.
- Sewing it together: Okay, this is where things got real tricky. My sewing machine and I, we’ve had our ups and downs. But we pulled through, eventually. Lots of straight lines, lots of corners. And let me tell you, getting that interfacing to cooperate was a battle in itself.
- The YSL logo: This was the make-or-break moment. After a lot of trial and error, I ended up using some gold fabric paint and a stencil I made. It took a few tries to get it crisp and clean, but hey, we got there.
Once the main body was done, I moved on to the strap. I found some gold chain and black fabric in my stash and figured, why not? Attached that to the bag, and bam – almost there.
It’s done
Finally, I added a little magnetic clasp I salvaged from an old purse. And you know what? It actually turned out pretty darn good! It’s not perfect, mind you, but it’s got that YSL June Box Bag vibe. I was so proud of myself, I carried it around the house for a whole day, just admiring my handiwork.
So, there you have it – my little adventure in recreating a designer bag. It was a fun challenge, and I learned a lot along the way. Maybe I’ll tackle another one sometime, who knows? But for now, I’m just gonna enjoy my new “YSL” bag.
Hope you all enjoyed this little story. See y’all next time!
