Alright, folks, gather ’round, I’ve got a story for you about this bag I’ve been working on. So I was surfing through the web, you know, just looking at things, and I saw this Fendi Mon Tresor bucket bag. It’s a nice-looking bag, I gotta say. City folks love these, but they’re a bit pricey, so I thought, why not make a copy?
First off, I started looking at the pictures of the real deal on their official website. This little bucket bag, it’s got a drawstring, and some metal pieces shaped like the Fendi logo. And guess what? It’s got two straps, one long and one short. Seems handy, right?
I got myself some leather, similar to what they used. Not the fancy stuff, but good enough. Then I started cutting and sewing. It was a bit of a challenge, I won’t lie. Getting that bucket shape right, making sure the drawstring works, it took some time.
- Spent a good few days just on the body of the bag.
- The straps were easier, just long pieces of leather.
- The metal parts, though, those were tricky. I had to shape them myself, make them look like the Fendi logo.
After I finished making the bag, I looked around the internet about how to tell if a Fendi bag is real or not. I found out that real Fendi bags made after 2010 have this RFID chip inside. And the ones made between 2004 and 2010, they have a hologram sticker. Of course, my copy doesn’t have those, it’s just a copy, but I tried to make it look as close as possible.
Also, I learned that all real Fendi bags are made in Italy. And they have these serial numbers, usually on the back of the inside leather tag or near a seam. But bags made before 1980, they don’t have serial numbers. My bag doesn’t have a serial number, naturally, but I made sure to put a little leather tag inside, just like the real ones.
The Result
In the end, I think I did a pretty good job. It looks like the Fendi Mon Tresor, it feels like it, and it works like it. You can put your stuff in it, your keys, your wallet, your phone. It’s not too big, just right for your important things.
Sure, it’s not a real Fendi, but it’s a good copy. And it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. So if you see me walking around with my little bucket bag, you’ll know it’s my handmade copy of the Fendi Mon Tresor. And I’m pretty proud of it.
