Fake OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch: Is the Transparent Back Version at Official Store Legit or Scam?

So, last year, I saw this ad on Etsy. It was about a Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. The price? Only 300 bucks. I was like, “No way, this can’t be real.” But then I thought, “Hey, why not give it a shot?” I mean, it’s just 300 dollars, right?

After a few weeks, I got the watch. It looked pretty decent at first glance. But something felt off. So I decided to dig a little deeper.

First thing I did was to try and find a serial number on it. I found one and I went to that Omega website. You know, the official one. I typed in the serial number to see what would come up. Guess what? It didn’t match the watch I had in my hands. Red flag right there. A real Omega watch should have a serial number that matches its records. I also emailed Omega, and they said if I wanna be 100% sure, I gotta take it to an official store. They’re the only ones who can say for sure if it’s real or not. I’ve also tried to find out if there is an official store or authorized retailers nearby but found out that all watches from those authorized retailers are supplied with a warranty card. I didn’t get one of those with the watch I bought.

Then I started looking at the back of the watch. It had a transparent case back, which I thought was cool. But then I read somewhere that if you see two of those regulator arm things on the back, it’s probably a fake. Apparently, the real Omega movements are way fancier.

  • Serial Number Check: I searched for a serial number and tried to verify it on Omega’s official site. It didn’t match.
  • Emailed Omega: I contacted Omega, and they told me to go to an official store for verification.
  • Authorized Retailers: I checked for official stores but learned they provide warranty cards with real watches. I didn’t get one.
  • Transparent Case Back: I examined the back of the watch and noticed two regulator arms, which is a sign of a fake according to what I read.

I also stumbled upon some news about Omega being a victim of some organized criminal activity. Makes sense, I guess. If people can make fake watches that look this real, they can probably make some good money.

Conclusion

So, yeah, I ended up with a fake Omega Speedmaster. It was a bummer, but hey, I learned a lot. I also saw some people talking about fake MoonSwatches on Aliexpress for like 35 bucks. I am not buying that anymore. I learned my lesson. Always check the serial number, and if you’re not sure, ask Omega directly or check authorized retailers and look for that warranty card. And remember, if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. No more cheap watches for me. I’d rather save up and get the real deal from an official store. That way, I know I’m getting what I pay for.
