Okay, so I got this watch, right? It’s a CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Chrono Chime. Yeah, that’s a mouthful, I know. But it’s a pretty cool watch, or at least, I think so. I’ve been messing around with it, trying to figure out all the little things it does.
First off, I noticed it’s got that classic style. It’s kinda big, and it’s definitely shiny. I mean, it’s got all these buttons and dials and stuff. I feel like a big shot wearing it, you know? Like I should be timing some important race or something.
Then I started looking closer. There are these little circles on the face. I learned that they’re called “sub-dials”. The one at 6 o’clock, that’s like a mini clock that counts up to 12 hours. And the one at 9 o’clock, that’s the one that shows the seconds ticking by. Apparently, these are a big deal for this Speedmaster thing. Makes it look all official.
I heard someone call it a “Chronoscope”. I guess that’s a fancy word for a stopwatch. There are some numbers scratched on the back. I’ll have to find out what those are about. Another dude was talking about some “Silver Snoopy” thing. Something about an anniversary. And it’s hard to get. I don’t know. Maybe I’ll look into that later. Sounds kinda fun, like a treasure hunt or something. But how to get one? I need to try to find a way to buy it online.
Oh, and I found out this watch is a bit bigger than another one called the “Reduced.” This one is like 39mm, and the other one is smaller. I don’t really know what that means in real life, but mine feels pretty good on my wrist. I don’t have a ruler or something to measure it, it’s a bit bigger than my thumb.
Someone told me this watch has a “movement.” Like it’s doing a little dance inside. Sounds kinda crazy, right? It is common to place a watch to your ear to ensure it works. You listen out for that telltale ticking sound. However, with an Omega watch, you will not hear it. I tried to listen to it, and guess what? It doesn’t tick! That’s pretty wild. It’s all smooth and silent. They said it’s because it’s made really well. It’s all about the materials. This one’s got some kind of metal, stainless steel, I think. Feels solid, not cheap or anything.
I heard from others that it is important to check the Reference Number inside the case-back, and the eight digit serial number in the movement. I haven’t tried to open it up yet. I’m not sure if I should. Maybe I’ll take it to a watch guy and have him do it. Don’t want to mess it up. I don’t have the tools to open the back.
