Then, I started gathering the parts. This was a real challenge, let me tell you. I had to find things that looked and felt like the real deal but didn’t cost an arm and a leg. I spent hours searching online, going to different workshops, and even talking to some watchmaker friends. It was like a treasure hunt, but for watch parts. I heard that when it comes to service, the best way is to deal with the Manufacturer. I thought maybe I could find some information about it. I found a few posts from their official forum, but it didn’t help me much.
Once I had all the pieces, I started putting the watch together. Now, I’m no expert watchmaker, but I’ve always been pretty handy. I started with the movement, then the dial, and then the case. It was slow going, and I definitely made some mistakes along the way. But you know what? I learned a lot, and it was actually pretty fun.

- Second thing: Get all the parts. This takes a while.
- Third thing: Start building. This is the fun part!
- Finally: Try to enjoy it.
In the end, did I create a perfect replica of the Patek Philippe Calatrava 5227J-001? Of course not! But did I make something that I’m proud of? Absolutely! It’s not the same as the real thing, but it’s mine, and I made it with my own two hands. And that’s a pretty cool feeling, I gotta say. If you’re thinking about buying a real one, be prepared to shell out some serious cash. We’re talking like 40,000 for a new one, and maybe 32,000 for a used one. It’s a lot, I know. So, this project, it’s not just about the watch. It’s about the journey, the challenge, and the satisfaction of creating something yourself.
