Okay, so I’ve been eyeing the OMEGA Speedmaster for a while now. I mean, who hasn’t? It’s like, the watch, you know? So, I finally decided to go for it and check out the Speedmaster Super Racing at the official store.
First, I went online to do a little digging around. Found some stuff about it being super precise and all that, and I read some blog posts talking about its history with space and stuff, and how it is a timeless symbol. Cool, cool. I learned that it was worn during the first American spacewalk, and it was the first watch on the moon! I was like, “Wow, that’s some serious history!”
Heading to the Store
Then, I decided to hit up a physical store. I found this place, Ace Photo. Supposedly it is the largest camera shop, but they sell watches too. They had a bunch of different Speedmasters, but I was really interested in the Super Racing model.
When I walked in, the vibe was pretty chill. There were displays and some staff members milling about. I headed straight for the OMEGA section. Man, they had a lot of watches! I finally found the Speedmaster section and started checking them out.
Checking out the Watches
The Super Racing was right there, looking all sleek and shiny. I asked one of the staff guys to help me out, and he took it out of the case for me. I got to hold it, feel the weight, and try it on. I gotta say, it felt pretty awesome on my wrist.
- Holding it: The weight felt substantial, but not too heavy. Just right, you know?
- Trying it on: It fit perfectly. The 44.25 mm size was just right for my wrist.
- Looking at the details: The dial was super clean and easy to read. I liked the little details, like the racing-style minute track and the yellow accents.
Making the Decision
I spent some time looking at the other Speedmasters, but my heart was set on the Super Racing. I mean, it’s got that whole space history, it looks amazing, and it’s supposed to be super accurate. What’s not to love?
So, I decided to pull the trigger and buy it. I ended up buying it from the official OMEGA store to be sure of the authenticity. It was a bit more than some of the other places, but I figured it was worth it for the peace of mind. After all, this is a watch I plan on keeping for a long, long time.
I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks now, and I gotta say, I’m loving it. It’s definitely a conversation starter. People keep asking me about it, and I get to tell them all about its history and how it’s been to space and all that. Pretty cool, right?
So yeah, that’s my story of getting the OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing. It was a bit of an adventure, but totally worth it. If you’re thinking about getting one, I say go for it. You won’t regret it!
