Alright, so I set out to get my hands on one of these CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Chrono Chime watches. You know, the ones that look like what those astronaut guys used to wear? Yeah, those. First thing I did was hit up the internet, trying to figure out where you can even buy these things. Turns out, they’re not just sitting on the shelf at your local Walmart.
I learned that you gotta go to those fancy jewelry stores. You know the type, where everything’s behind glass and you feel like you gotta wear a suit just to walk in. So, I found a couple of these places near me and gave them a call. First one didn’t even have it. Said they could maybe order it, but who knows how long that would take. The second place, though, they had one. Just one.
So, I drove down there. The store was all shiny and quiet, not my usual scene. A guy in a nice suit came up to me, and I told him I was there for the Speedmaster. He took me to this little private room, felt like I was buying a diamond ring or something. Then he brought out the watch. Man, it was something to see. All those little dials and buttons, looked more complicated than my old pickup truck’s dashboard.
We talked price, and let me tell you, these things aren’t cheap. But, I had done my homework, so I knew what to expect. It was a numbered edition, 45.5 mm, with this 18K Sedna™ Gold case. They say it’s got more gears and springs inside than you can shake a stick at.
Now, I’ve heard some folks say this watch is like a cousin to some other watch, the Olympic Chrono Chime. I don’t know much about that one, but this Speedmaster, it seemed like it could do everything but tell you when to plant your tomatoes.
- First Step: Hit the internet, found out these are sold at special jewelry stores.
- Second Step: Called a couple of stores, one had it in stock.
- Third Step: Went to the store, got the VIP treatment, and saw the watch in person.
- Fourth Step: Discussed the price, knew what I was getting into.
After hemming and hawing for a bit, I decided to go for it. I mean, how often do you get to buy a watch like this? They boxed it up all nice, gave me all these papers and a fancy warranty card. Felt like I was signing my life away, but hey, I had my Speedmaster.
Was It Worth It?
Look, it’s a lot of money for a watch. But if you’re into these things, and you appreciate the history and the craftsmanship, then yeah, it’s worth it. It’s not just a watch; it’s a conversation starter. And every time I look at it, I think about those astronauts and all that space stuff. Pretty cool, if you ask me.
