Okay, here we go, let’s talk about this Jaeger-LeCoultre JLC Duomètre Sphérotourbillon, the classic style one.

First off, I saw this watch online and thought, “Wow, that’s fancy!” I mean, it looked super complicated and cool. So, I got this idea to try and imitate it. Not make a real one, of course, just, you know, get the look.

I started by looking at tons of pictures of the watch. I found a bunch of different ones. I spent hours just staring at these pictures, trying to figure out all the little parts and how they fit together. It was kind of like putting together a really hard puzzle, but without the actual pieces.

Then I tried to sketch it out. Let me tell you, drawing isn’t my strong suit. I used this as a way to practice my skills. But I tried my best to copy the look of the watch on paper. It wasn’t perfect, not by a long shot, but it was a start.

Making a Model

  • I thought about making a model out of clay. That seemed pretty hard, so I switched to cardboard, which was easier to work with. I cut out all these tiny pieces to make something that kinda looked like the watch.
  • The hardest part was definitely the tourbillon. That thing is crazy complicated! I tried to make it out of wire and some tiny beads. It didn’t really spin or anything, but it gave the general idea, I guess.
  • Gluing everything together was a real mess. My fingers were covered in glue, and half the time the pieces wouldn’t even stick. But, after a lot of tries, I had something that resembled the watch.

It’s not perfect. It’s actually pretty rough, to be honest. But, it was fun to try and figure out how to make something that looks like this super expensive watch. And hey, I learned a bit about watches along the way.

In the end, I placed my little cardboard model on my desk. It’s a good reminder that sometimes it’s fun to just try and make stuff, even if you’re not very good at it. Plus, it makes for a good conversation starter when people see it and ask what the heck it is!

So that’s my story about trying to imitate a Jaeger-LeCoultre watch. It wasn’t easy, but it was a good experience. Maybe I’ll try imitating another watch sometime. Or maybe not. We’ll see! I hope this is a good way to share my experience, I really put some effort into this!
